Golf Course at The Wynn

I love Vegas, my hubby travels for work quite a bit and just about every other year he has to go to Las Vegas, needless to say, I tag along whenever I have the chance. Sadly with all of the things going on in the world this years trade show has been cancelled. My very first time in Vegas was for one of our yearly anniversary trips, just he and I and on our dime. We stayed at the fabulous Mandalay Bay, which is still my favorite hotel despite the tragedy that took place out of its golden windows. This trip we booked through Southwest Vacations. Southwest vacations is one of my favorite online booking sites, I use them quite a bit when traveling anywhere they fly because I like the most bang for my buck and they always have great deals going on. I’ve also stayed at Treasure Island and the Wynn but always end up going back to Mandalay Bay, it’s because they are the only hotel on the strip with its own little beach. I love the pool area at this hotel, lazy river, wave pool, a few soaking pools, it’s beautiful! The Wynn is another lovely hotel, it’s a golfers dream with its own golf course right there on the strip. Look at that, your first one of many things to do that isn’t gambling 🙂  So without further ado here’s a list of 10 things to do in Las Vegas besides gamble.

Las Vegas Strip

1. Take in the amazing sights Las Vegas has to offer. The hotels on the strip are all themed and it’s like escaping to a different place with each one. Plus, most of the hotels are like mini malls, they have excellent choices for dining, along with little boutiques throughout them. It takes a few days to explore them all and you will be racking up a lot of steps on those fitness trackers so be sure to wear comfy shoes!

Vegas Strip towards “Old Vegas”

2. Hop on the bus or take a cab or Uber/Lyft and head on downtown to “old Vegas” to explore Fremont Street. It’s a fun little canopy covered couple of blocks that is full of entertainment. There is always music playing, if your lucky you may get to catch a live band playing on the stage that’s set up there, if not, no worries because there are street performers that are all over that little section. At night on the underside of the canopy they have a light show, as well as videos that play which is kind of neat. For the more adventurous type you can zip-line from one end of Fremont to the other above all the onlookers below.

Eiffel Tower at The Paris

3. For the super adventurous bunch, how about a roller coaster ride that goes through a hotel? You can find that at New York New York, I suggest a night time ride so you don’t see the drop coming, weeeeeee. For the romantic, a nice stroll along the “Grand Canal” window shopping followed by a ride on a gondola snuggled up to your sweetheart. If that’s not your thing you could alway go to the top of the “Eiffel tower” followed by a romantic dinner at the tower restaurant, you can find this at the Paris. If your not afraid of heights and you’d like to take a spin on the world tallest Ferris wheel,  hop on over to the Linq where you can find that 550 foot tall beauty. This last thing I just recently discovered and can’t wait to head there myself. Back in what is considered “old Vegas” at the Circus Circus hotel you can find a theme park inside called Adventuredome. Look at that friends, more to do than gamble and it’s not just for adults!

Tim and I at the Hoover Dam with the Bypass Bridge being built behind us

4. For this one we need to go on a little road trip which will take us to non other than the Hoover Dam. This one is for those that like to do a little learning and that don’t mind a little driving while on vacation, the views are fantastic. They have a few different tours you can take while at they dam. Hubby and I took the one where they bring you inside the dam and show you how everything works, it was pretty neat! While there don’t forget to take that iconic walk on top of the dam so you can stand in two states at the same time.

Madame Tussauds Wax Museum

5. Instead of walking into a casino how about taking a walk through Hollywood. Tim was a little hesitant to waste money looking at wax figures but he was really impressed and actually enjoyed the museum. It costs about $25pp however if you have the entertainment book you can get a buy one get one free on those tickets or at least you could when we went.

Yummy Desserts from Caesar’s Buffet

6. How about eating your way around Vegas? Every time we’re in the city we make sure to head to the buffet at Caesar’s Palace. Trust me this is a must, your tummy will thank you later.

Pool at The Wynn

7. I don’t know about you but if the sun is shining and the pool is sparkling you can bet it is calling my name. I like to spend a day or two working on my tan while in Vegas. There is nothing more relaxing than a lounge chair by the pool with a fruity drink and a good book.

Bellagio and it’s Fabulous Fountains

8. It doesn’t matter where we are staying on the strip we always make our way over to the Bellagio to catch the fountain show. It is a must see if you’re in Vegas. No worries, they have 30 songs that they rotate so chances are in your favor that you wont see the same one twice.

Cirque du Soleil

9. Why not take in a show while you’re in town, I mean Vegas is a show town. Tim and I try to take in at least one show every time we visit sin city. The last show we got to see was a Cirque du Soleil. They are some pretty amazing performers. I give them two thumbs up for entertainment and highly recommend going to see them if you ever get the chance.

Tim and I at the Grand Canyon’s South Rim

10. For our final stop on todays Vegas tour of things to do besides gamble, we find ourselves at the most amazing places to take a selfie, The Grand Canyon. This is probably one of my favorite places to see while in and around Vegas. I warn you this is a 4 hour drive and there are plenty of tour companies that will take you via bus if you don’t want to rent a car and take the drive yourself. Hubby and I are the adventurous type and don’t like to be on anyone’s schedule but our own. We have so much fun heading out together making stops where ever we want along the way. For those that would rather have something scheduled and mapped out, a bus tour would be perfect for you. So personally I decided to skip the sky walk, which is the west area. We aren’t really into being herded like cattle and then through touristy shops. We went for the south rim, the views are spectacular and you can mosey on at your own pace, and take tons of selfies. If your lucky you may spot some wild life, we ran into a huge moose! The hubby was thrilled, and the big guy was pretty cool too. The south rim is accessible year round and yes it is the most visited place but you never feel like your in crowds. Do be super careful, views are amazing but step too far back taking those selfies and they will be looking for you at the bottom of the canyon and no one wants that!

Well friends until our next trip remember, travel and fall in love, your adventure awaits ❤️
