If you’re a NASCAR fan than you should try to get to Pocono Raceway for the double header weekend at least once in your life for a camping trip you’re not soon to forget.

Scrolling through facebook one night I had noticed a cousin of mine post something about things to do in Pennsylvania. Being the busy bee that I am, I looked into it and Pocono Raceway came up. With COVID-19 and everything being shut down last year I was surprised that they were having their double header weekend with camping. Taking a chance I decided to see if we could get a spot for our RV. We’re always up for a good adventure and Tim loves NASCAR and has always wanted to bring an RV into the center for a race and lucky me, I secured us a spot!

Craziness Trying To Get To The Campsite

So Tim and I are from Upstate NY. That’s about 150 miles away from Pocono Raceway. We sat in this line of trailers to get in longer than it took us to drive to the track. Be prepared to wait in lines like your waiting for the newest Harry Potter ride at Universal Studios during February break.

Our Little House On Wheels All Set Up For The Weekend

After what seemed like forever we are all set up in our spot. Solar lights and portable propane fire pit worked out well here seeing that we didn’t have hook ups. I definitely made sure I was prepared on this trip.

Camping in the infield of the track comes with perks. We actually got to go out and walk the racetrack. To say the hubby was in his glory would be an understatement.

Strike A Pose

So by now you can tell I was taking all the pictures this day. I drove him insane making him pose but I was thoroughly enjoying myself. Super Model, strike a pose.

Line Em’ Up Boys

More Perks of infield camping. You get access to so much if you chose the right package. Our driver is the kid, Chase Elliot. We use to root for Jeff Gordon, but when he retired Chase drove the 24 car so we stuck with him. He’s since changed cars and but we like his driving so we’ll be sticking with him instead of the car number. Sorry Jeff.

Chase Elliot Before The Race

We found our drivers pit box and decided to hand around a bit before the race and look who decided to stop for a chat. Can’t complain, other than the long line to get in, this trip was going pretty darn good.

The View From The Roof Of The Camper

If you’ve ever watched a NASCAR race on tv you can see all the fans in the infield on top of their campers. Well that’s because those are the best seats in the house.

My View From The Safety Of The Ground

This is what most of the women look at while the race is going on. Not many of us are crazy enough to climb on the roof of an RV. Those suckers are tall! No worries, I could still see the track, just not as good as Tim.

Jeff Gordon’s 1994 Dupont Chevrolet

Besides the races (there were 5 all together), they had a little fair going on trackside, and infield they had vendors and a stage where the bands played for 3 days. It really was a great experience all around with so much going on.

The Tunnel Turn

Sadly Chase didn’t win this go around. But a NASCAR double header weekend with infield camping should be on every NASCAR fans bucket list. We really enjoyed the weekend we spent at Pocono Raceway. It was reasonably priced for all the things we got to do and I can honestly say I would do it again. This is a good thing since Tim has now added multiple NASCAR tracks and camping to his bucket list.

Until next time friends, travel and fall in love, adventure awaits ❤️
